Biography
Camila De Oliveira is a Brazilian pianist, educator, and collaborative artist based in Auckland, New Zealand. She began her musical journey at the age of 6 and pursued her undergraduate studies in piano performance at the Faculdade de Artes Alcântara Machado in Brazil. Camila earned her postgraduate diploma in music and her Master's degree in Piano Performance at the University of Auckland, where she is currently completing her doctoral studies. Her doctoral research focuses on evaluating the playability required for executing virtuoso piano repertoire using an ergonomically scaled piano keyboard (ESPK), a keyboard with narrower keys.
In 2024, Camila presented a lecture-recital at the Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference in Melbourne, Australia, and in July 2025, she will present at the National Piano Keyboard Conference in Chicago, USA. She has been awarded the Llewelyn Jones Prize in Music for Piano at the University of Auckland in both 2019 and 2020, as well as the APO Aspiring Musician Scholarship in 2020.
As a performer, Camila is frequently invited to collaborate with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) and she is also the official collaborative pianist at the North Shore Performing Arts Competitions for both Strings and Vocal.
Camila is passionate about teaching and guiding students to reach their full potential. She serves as a piano teacher at the University of Auckland and is a founding member of the Auckland Chamber Music Collective, an ensemble dedicated to championing women composers, New Zealand composers, and living composers.
Her multifaceted career reflects her commitment to fostering artistic growth and her dedication to both performance and education.
